      Fishing in Argentina
Over the Christmas holiday I went to Argentina. Spceifically I went to a small town called San Martin de Los Andes. This sleepy little town offers some of the best fishing in patagonia. Below are some pictures of my trip and a few of the trout that I caught.
I went with my dad and  hired a local guide named Hevert. He's in many of the pictures that you'll see below.
ENJOY!
Hevert and me on the Collon Cura River-very windy!!
Collon Cura River-A very windy day that tried my patience and landed me six good size fish. My dad took the picture. He caught about 8-10.
Some skulls we found on the banks of the Caleufu River
Caleufu River-These were just a few of the things we found along the river banks as we were fishing from them.
The one fish I caught in a stream that enters the Filo Hua Hum lake.
Filo Hua Hum-This was the only fish that we caught that day on a very cool stream that runs into the Lake called Filo Hua Hum. Hevert had just given me a new fly  and it took three casts to catch this one.
Casting in to the edge of the Filo Hua Hum
Filo Hua Hum-Casting just where the stream enters the lake. I hooked a big rainbow trout that the guide estimated at 7.5lbs or 3.5kgs but it got tangled in the long grass you see to my right. I never did get it out.
Casting into one of the streams that feeds into the lake.
Filo Hua Hum-Casting into one of the streams that enters the lake. It was a great place to fish. We were the only fishermen that stuck around that day. It doesn't get dark there until 9:30pm this time of the year, which makes for a long day, but it was worth it.
Hevert shoeing me the right spots to fish!
Filo Hua Hum- Trying to find the damm fish in the right places was tough. Hevert is showing me the best places to land my fly. The water was very clear in these streams and Hevert said that he could see the fish, I couldn't see anything other than rocks and sticks!
Landing the only catch of the day!
Filo Hua Hum-Finally catching the elusive trout that evaded us all day. Hevert had just changed my fly and bingo!
Fishing on the Chimihuin
Chimihuin-The day after Christmas we took a half day trip down this fast river and caught a few fish. We also enjoyed some rapids!! In this photo Hevert is trying to get my fish out from underneath a branch.
Hevert, Hugo, Dad and me at the end of our Chimihuin river trip
Chimihuin- Having a bit of dinner at the end of our fishing and rafting trip donw a very clear river. The river was running pretty high so the fishing wasn't all too exciting. The rapids on the other hand were nice.

Getting ready for our two day trip down the Caleufu
Caleufu River- Getting things ready for our two day journey. Dad and Michel (the guy kneeling) are getting some things together while Felipe, Luiz and me are trying to figure out what goes in what boat.
Doing a little fishing onthe banks of the Caleufu
Caleufu River- Hanging out trying to catch those elusive spanish speaking trout!
What I really spent most of my time doing on the trip.
Caleufu River- Tying one of the new flies that our guide gave me after losing more than my fair share of his flies to the rocks or trees in the river. My dad lost only a few throughout the whole vacation. Experience is everything.
Dad and one of his trout's
Caleufu River- Dad and one of his many catches on this river. He eventually went on to catch over 25. I on the other hand caught about 10 fish and probably 15-20 rocks!
Finally, something other than a rock.
Caleufu River- Finally something that moves at the end of the rod.
Another nice catch!
Caleufu River- Dad and another one! Luck or experience???
Trying to put the fly in the right place.

Caleufu River- Enjoying the challange of casting across the river. What a blast!
And another!!!

Caleufu River- Dad and Hevert hanging out with another nice catch. All fish were released and were mostly caught with barbless hooks! Nice catch dad!
